CALL TO ACTION

This where we share actions that WE can do to make a difference.

I received this email from Susan C.

After years of subscribing to AAA, we discovered a bit about their practices. They promote lots of driving and they support the car industry and the government foot dragging on keeping the mpg low on newly manufactured cars.
There is an alternative. We have subscribed to Better World Club for 5 years now for towing, lock out, and vacation planning services. They offer all of the same services, but they walk their talk. They are endorsed by the car talk guys on NPR.
They even offer a policy for bicycle owners who want to be rescued on occasion.
Here is their newsletter- but you can also check them on on their website.
Thought you might be interested.

We are! Thank you Susan.

CALL TO ACTION: We can make a difference!

FACTS: The Barnardsville Post Office needs to increase revenues.

    1. Repairs are now required to make the building safe.

    2. Negotiations will ensue starting in October 2008 regarding renewing the lease for the Post Office.

    3. Increased revenues will help keep the Post Office in Barnardsville.

    4. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please buy your stamps and mail products at your local Barnardsville Post Office.

  2. Useful, Susan–re Triple A. Thanks.

  3. Re the Post Office. I’m very glad several of us are taking on this cause. I has come up regularly out here, as the future of our PO has been in jeopardy for many years. Many people in this community lack checking accounts and rely on the PO in order to send money orders. The future of our PO all comes down to income generated, apparently, so in addition to stamps, buy other postal products if you can, and RENT A BOX, if it could serve you. A number of boxes are still available. Unfortunately, a box means DRIVING to the P.O., but if you have a business, you may be able to justify it. In years past, petitions were gathered to help save the PO, and it may come to that out here again. At the appropriate point, I’d be glad to do an article for the Wvl paper about our effort to keep our PO, if folks think that could help publicize the effort.
